Configure CleanBrowsing DNS on a Netgear Router

Learn how to change the DNS settings on your Netgear router to use CleanBrowsing. These generic instructions work for most Netgear router models.

Step 1: Access Router Admin Panel

Open your web browser and navigate to http://www.routerlogin.com or your router's IP address. Log in using your administrator credentials. The default username is typically "admin".

Step 2: Configure DNS Settings

Select "Internet" from the left menu and scroll down to find the "Use these DNS Servers" option. Enter the following CleanBrowsing DNS addresses:

  • Primary DNS: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS: 185.228.169.168

Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.

Step 3: Apply Changes

Click "Apply" to save your configuration. Allow several minutes for the DHCP lease to renew. You can speed up the process by toggling your WiFi off and on.

Step 4: Verify Configuration

Test the setup by visiting badexample.com — you should see a "domain not found" error, confirming the filter is active across your network.
