CleanBrowsing is a DNS-based content filtering service that offers a safe way to browse the web without surprises. It intercepts domain requests and filter sites that should be blocked, based on your filtering needs. Our, free, family filter, for example, blocks porn, obscene, and adult content, while still allowing Google, Youtube, Bing, DuckDuckGo and the rest of the web to load safely.
CleanBrowsing offers 3 Free filters and Paid options.
Our free filters are comprised of three predefined filters for global consumption (Security, Adult, and Family). The Family filter blocks adult / obscene content and applies Safe Search filters to Google, Bing, Yandex, etc. The security filter, however, only focuses on restricting access to malicious activity.
The paid filters give you full control on what should be blocked. You can pick from 14 predefined filters (Adult, Gaming, Gambling, Torrents, Weapons, Social Network, etc), but also make your own rules and block/allow any domains you wish. Custom block pages can also be created on the Pro plans and all the plans allow for network visibility (see which sites are being visited from your network).
Step by step instructions are available on our Getting Started page [Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Android].
Schools have a special responsibility to ensure family friendly environment on their networks, and CleanBrowsing is committed to helping them achieve this goal. CleanBrowsing helps schools conform with jurisdictional regulations that require pornographic and obscene content is blocked on school networks.
CleanBrowsing offers three free DNS content filters that are available to the world, for free. Our commitment to the users is that we DO NOT track and retain any data associated with our Free services.
CleanBrowsing offers paid options with enhanced features. It increases the total available filters to 19, provides deeper visibility into the networks activity, and introduces a number of advanced functions:
Although we were built for families, our technology allows us to serve a myriad of different customers. Each built around the basic principle of empowering users to take better control of their networks

Thousands of businesses, churches, schools and families are using CleanBrowsing. Here's what some of them have to say.
I just discovered @cleanbrowsing - I've removed Google as the DNS provider for my @The_Pi_Hole and instead replaced it with custom values from https://t.co/olFg7jNPXG - now, what gets through my Pi-Hole will get further filtered by their free service. Thanks!

I use https://t.co/I7qh2dXoMG on all of our devices in the house. None of my kids have smartphones so I'm not sure how good it works there.

It's super easy to set up at home though because it can be set up at the WiFi router to protect everything that connects to it.
I have this turned on my home network. As a father of three boys it's become almost necessary to protect them from nefarious websites that prey on kids in particular. I really appreciate @cleanbrowsing

Inside the #DNS (or Network) settings, change the DNS server to the value: 185.228.168.168 (or 185.228.169.168).
The best part about CleanBrowsing is that it doesn't require software installation on your device or network to work. The service can be applied to your network via a DNS change, either at the router or on the machine. We also offer Apps to make the DNS change easier.
Different from other internet safety solutions, CleanBrowsing works with all major websites and search providers like YouTube, Google, and Bing! Even better, you may continue to use your browser of choice knowing the service cannot be disabled at the browser level.
CleanBrowsing places special emphasis on kids and parents. This means that we deploy Safe Search whenever it's available by the service provider by default. This ensures that search results (including YouTube) are stripped of malicious or obscene content when possible.
