Change DNS on an Eero Pro Router

Learn how to change the DNS settings on your Eero Pro mesh router using the Eero app. By configuring CleanBrowsing DNS on your Eero, you can enable content filtering across your entire home network.

Step 1: Open the Eero App

Open the Eero app on your mobile device. The Eero Pro router is managed entirely through the app, so you will need it installed on your phone or tablet.

Step 2: Navigate to DNS Settings

From the app home page, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner. Then navigate to Network Settings > Advanced Settings > DNS.

Step 3: Update DNS Settings

Tap on Custom DNS and enter the CleanBrowsing DNS addresses in the Primary and Secondary fields:

  • Primary DNS: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS: 185.228.169.168

Save the changes by tapping Save Settings. Your Eero may briefly reboot during this process, which is normal.

Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.

Step 4: Verify Configuration

Test your configuration by visiting badexample.com — you should see a "domain not found" error, confirming the filter is active.

Allow 10-15 minutes for changes to take full effect across your network.
