Change DNS on Verizon Actiontec MI424WR

Learn how to configure CleanBrowsing DNS on your Verizon Actiontec MI424WR router to enable content filtering for your entire network.

Step 1: Access the Router

Navigate to http://192.168.1.1/ in your browser and authenticate as the administrator. On this model, the credentials should be on the bottom of the router on a sticker.

Step 2: Navigate to My Network Menu

Select the My Network option from the main menu.

Step 3: Modify Broadband Settings

From the left-hand menu, choose Network Connections, then select Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) (or WAN PPPoE if using DSL). Next, click Connection Properties and then select Settings at the page bottom.

Step 4: Change Your DNS Type

Locate the DNS Server section and adjust the dropdown to Use the Following DNS Server Addresses. This reveals editable fields for Primary and Secondary DNS servers. Enter the CleanBrowsing IPs:

  • Primary DNS: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS: 185.228.169.168

If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your account dashboard instead.
