Change DNS on Motorola MT7711

Learn how to change the DNS settings on your Motorola MT7711 modem router. This guide covers updating DNS servers, setting IPv4-only mode, and disabling IPv6 DHCP for proper content filtering.

Step 1: Access Advanced Settings

Log in to your Motorola MT7711 admin panel. From the home page, select Advanced.

Step 2: Navigate to Connection Settings

Go to Status > Connection to locate the DNS configuration options.

Step 3: Set IPv4 Only Mode

At the top of the page, set the eRouter Provisioning Mode to eRouteIPv4 only. This ensures all traffic uses your configured DNS servers.

Step 4: Update IPv4 DNS Servers

Scroll down to find the IPv4 DNS Servers section. Disable the automatic connection option, then enter the CleanBrowsing DNS addresses:

  • Primary DNS: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS: 185.228.169.168

Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.

Step 5: Save Changes

Click SAVE to apply your DNS modifications.

Step 6: Disable IPv6 DHCP

Navigate to Basic Router > DHCPv6 and disable IPv6 DHCP. This prevents the router from issuing IPv6 addresses that would bypass your DNS filtering settings.
