Learn how to change the DNS settings on your Motorola AC1900 router. This guide covers updating DNS servers, disabling automatic connection, and turning off IPv6 DHCP for proper content filtering.
Log in to your Motorola AC1900 admin panel. Navigate to Status > Connection to access the DNS configuration area.
Scroll to the bottom of the Connection page and select DISABLE for the automatic connection option. This allows you to manually set your DNS servers.
Enter the CleanBrowsing DNS addresses in the Primary and Secondary DNS fields:
185.228.168.168185.228.169.168Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.
Click the SAVE button to apply your DNS modifications.
Navigate to Basic Router > DHCPv6 and disable IPv6 DHCP. This is important because the router supports IPv6 DHCP but does not allow you to set IPv6 DNS values, which could bypass your content filtering.
Test your configuration by visiting badexample.com — you should see a "domain not found" error, confirming the filter is active.
Allow 10-15 minutes for changes to take full effect across your network.
