Change DNS on Arris SBG 6950 AC2

Learn how to change the DNS settings on your Arris SBG 6950 AC2 router. By enabling DNS Override and configuring CleanBrowsing DNS, you can enable content filtering across your entire network.

Step 1: Access LAN Setup

Log in to your Arris SBG 6950 AC2 admin panel. Navigate to the main router page and select LAN Setup from the menu.

Step 2: Find DNS Override Section

On the LAN Setup page, scroll down to find the DNS Override configuration area.

Step 3: Enable DNS Override

Click the option next to Enabled DNS Override to make the DNS server fields editable.

Step 4: Configure DNS Servers

Enter the CleanBrowsing DNS addresses in the fields that appear:

  • Primary DNS Server IP: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS Server IP: 185.228.169.168

Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.

Step 5: Apply Settings

Click the Apply button to save and complete the DNS configuration. Test your setup by visiting badexample.com — you should see a "domain not found" error, confirming the filter is active.

Allow 10-15 minutes for changes to take full effect across your network.
