Change DNS on Buffalo Router (Generic)

Learn how to change the DNS settings on any Buffalo router. This generic guide covers the standard Buffalo router interface and will help you configure CleanBrowsing DNS for network-wide content filtering.

Step 1: Access the Router

Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.11.1. Log in using the default credentials (username: root, password: leave blank) or your custom administrator credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to WAN Config

From the home screen, click Advanced at the top of the page. Then select WAN Config from the left-side menu to access the DNS configuration settings.

Step 3: Update DNS Settings

Enter the CleanBrowsing DNS addresses in the Address of DNS Name Server fields:

  • Primary DNS: 185.228.168.168
  • Secondary DNS: 185.228.169.168

Click the Apply button to save your changes.

Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.

Step 4: Verify Configuration

Test your configuration by visiting badexample.com — you should see a "domain not found" error, confirming the filter is active.

Allow 10-15 minutes for changes to take full effect across your network.
