Learn how to set up CleanBrowsing DNS on your Google ChromeBook. This guide walks you through the ChromeOS network settings to enable content filtering.
Click the clock/status area in the bottom-right corner of your screen to open the system tray. Then click the gear icon to open Settings.
Alternatively, click the magnifying glass (Launcher) and search for Settings.
In the Settings menu, click on Network in the left sidebar. You will see your available network connections listed.
Click on Wi-Fi, then click on the network that shows "Connected". This opens the detailed settings for that specific network.
Scroll down to the Network section within the connection details. Find the Name servers option and change it from "Automatic name servers" to "Custom name servers".
Enter the following CleanBrowsing DNS addresses in the custom name server fields:
185.228.168.168185.228.169.168ChromeBook does not have an Apply or Save button -- simply close the settings dialog and the changes will be saved automatically.
Note: If you have a paid CleanBrowsing plan, use the DNS IPs provided in your dashboard instead.
Open Chrome and visit dnsleaktest.com. Run the Standard Test -- the results should show CleanBrowsing as your DNS provider.
Note: Changes may take 10-15 minutes to fully propagate. You can disable and re-enable Wi-Fi to speed this up. If you connect to a different Wi-Fi network, you will need to repeat these steps for that network.
