By design the CleanBrowsing platform allows a user to tune a network to conform whatever is deemed appropriate on said network. We make this easy by offering 20 predefined filters to choose from.
These filters do not always meet an administrators needs. It is why we introduced the “custom domains” module to the platform.
Advanced Options
This module allows the network administrator to expand and tune the rules according to those that better align with their needs.
This module provides a network administrator the following features:
- Predefined platform filters for quick setting changes;
- Feature to allow domains;
- Feature to block domains;
- Feature to block according to TLDs;
- DNS Mapping (reserved for Pro100 +);
- Ability to shut off all network traffic;
The ability to allow, block have their own pages and will not be addressed in this article.
Option 1: Predefined Platform Filters
This section allows a user to create exceptions to some of the more popular platforms:
This section will show you if a specific platform is affected by a category, and the administrator can choose to override the setting.
Option 2: Blocking According to TLD’s
This feature provides a quick selection mechanism for the most popular Top Level Domains (TLD). It does not include all TLDs.
Option 3: Map Local Domains
This module is reserved for customers on plans that are greater than the Pro100. The feature is equivalent to creating your own LAN DNS. A network administrator has the ability to point domains to their preferred location.
Option 4: Block All network Traffic
This feature does exactly what it implies, it will shut off all DNS traffic to a network. It will shut down the network.
This feature can be used to create a whitelist only environment as well. If you allow some domains, but want to block everything else, this is the feature to use.
