Update DNS on VPN (ProtonVPN)

If you are using ProtonVPN as your VPN provider, you’re in luck. When using the app you can choose which DNS you want to use.

This means you can use the Free or Paid DNS values we provide on your VPN client.

Configure ProtonVPN with Preferred DNS Values

Configuring the desktop agent is easily done in about three steps.

  1. Navigate to the Settings page (click the hamburger dialog top left of app)
  2. Click on Connection
  3. “Enable” the Custom DNS Server option
  4. Enter the DNS values you want to use (this example shows the free family filter, but custom DNS values can be used).
