Activating CleanBrowsing on a NetGear router
Changing the DNS on a Netgear router is pretty simple. With a few steps you can have a safe network where adult and malicious content is blocked on all devices in your network. In the following steps, we will show you how to change DNS in there to enable the free parental control filters provided by CleanBrowsing:
Step 1: Login to your router administrative panel
First, go to http://www.routerlogin.com or the IP address of your router. Login with your username and password. The default user name is “admin”.
Step 2: Internet Config
Second, choose the “Internet” option on the right left side. Scroll down a bit until you find “Use these DNS Servers”. In there, you can add 184.108.40.206 as the Primary DNS and 220.127.116.11 as the secondary DNS for our Family Filter. If you are using one of our custom plans, change the IP address to match the one provided in our dashboard.
Step 3: Saving your changes
Once you are done changing the DNS, just click on "Apply". That will save your changes and you are done.
It may take a few minutes for your computer DHCP Lease to get the new DNS, but you should be good to go. If you disable your Wifi and re-enable, it will force it right away. To test, try to visit badexample.com and you should be blocked (getting domain not founder error on your browser).
