Android version 9 introduced a new native feature allows a user to encrypt DNS using the DNS-over-TLS (DOT) protocol. This guide will show you how to access and enable this feature on most Android devices running version 9 or higher.
Manually Configure Private DNS on Android
Step 1: Access Private DNS Settings
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to Network & Internet.
- Tap on Advanced.
- Select Private DNS.
Step 2: Add the Private DNS hostname
Choose Private DNS provider hostname.
Enter the desired DNS hostname from the following options. Here is a quick example using our Free Filtering options:
- Family Filter:
family-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.org
- Adult Filter:
adult-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.org
- Security Filter:
security-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.org
If you have a paid account you can use the values assigned in your dashboard.
